Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineering Manager, Data Engineering and AI to lead the strategy, architecture, delivery, and operation of enterprise-scale Data, AI, and Telemetry platforms. This role will oversee teams responsible for building and operating modern data infrastructure that powers analytics, machine learning, and business-critical decision making across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, finance, sales, service, and corporate functions.

The ideal candidate combines strong engineering leadership with deep expertise in open-source data technologies, cloud-native platforms, large-scale telemetry systems, and modern AI infrastructure. You will build and lead a high-performing team responsible for delivering scalable, reliable, and cost-efficient platforms that transform data into business value.

What You'll Do

Lead Data & AI Platform Engineering

  • Define and execute the strategy and roadmap for enterprise data, telemetry, and AI platforms.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of data and platform engineers.
  • Drive engineering excellence through automation, operational rigor, and modern development practices.
  • Partner with business and technology leaders to deliver high-impact data products and capabilities.

Build and Scale Data Platforms

  • Own the architecture, reliability, and performance of the enterprise data platform.
  • Develop and operate scalable data lakes, lakehouses, data warehouses, streaming platforms, and self-service analytics capabilities.
  • Ensure data platforms are secure, governed, cost-effective, and built for scale.

Lead Enterprise & Telemetry Data Engineering

  • Build and maintain real-time and batch data pipelines supporting enterprise applications, telemetry platforms, and business-critical workflows.
  • Enable fleet analytics, event detection, vehicle health monitoring, engineering diagnostics, operational reporting, and enterprise decision making.
  • Deliver trusted and governed datasets across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, finance, sales, service, and corporate functions.
  • Provide reliable self-service access to telemetry and enterprise data for engineering and business teams.

Drive Operational Excellence

  • Establish observability, monitoring, data quality, and incident management standards.
  • Lead platform modernization, performance optimization, and cloud cost optimization initiatives.
  • Ensure high availability, scalability, security, and compliance across all platform services.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
  • 12+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Platform Engineering, Distributed Systems, or Big Data technologies.
  • 6+ years of experience leading engineering teams and delivering enterprise-scale data solutions.
  • Proven experience building and operating cloud-native data platforms in production environments.
  • Strong software engineering background with expertise in scalable distributed systems and data-intensive applications.
  • Proven experience building and operating enterprise data platforms using open-source technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with modern data technologies including Spark, Kafka, Airflow, Trino, Iceberg, Delta Lake, and lakehouse architectures.
  • Experience with cloud and platform technologies such as AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, CI/CD, and observability platforms.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and SQL, with experience in Java and/or Scala.
  • Experience building platforms that support analytics, machine learning, AI, and Generative AI workloads.
  • Experience managing platform scalability, cloud cost optimization, and operational efficiency initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.

Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.
Base Pay Range (Annual)$211,400—$310,090 USD

Compensation & Benefits: Lucid offers a comprehensive and competitive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance; life and disability coverage; paid time off; paid holidays, paid sick leave; and a 401(k) retirement plan. Hourly/non-exempt employees accrue up to 120 hours paid time off, and salaried/exempt employee accrue up to 160 hours paid time off. Eligible employees may also participate in Lucid’s equity program and/or a discretionary annual cash incentive program. Incentive and equity awards, if applicable, are determined based on individual performance, role scope, market considerations, and overall company results, in accordance with the terms of the applicable plans.
