Opportunity Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Engineering team. In this role, you will build and enhance mission-critical healthcare technology that powers clinical letter generation, notification systems, and queue management for health insurance plans covering over 15 million people. You'll partner closely with product, design, and clinical teams to deliver end-to-end features on a modern full-stack platform. This is an opportunity to make a direct impact on healthcare outcomes while working with modern technologies in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
What you’ll do:
- Design, develop, test, and deploy end-to-end features and platform enhancements across our cloud infrastructure and web applications
- Own the full software development lifecycle from technical design through production deployment and monitoring
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in product, design, and clinical operations to deliver high-quality user experiences for healthcare practitioners
- Support all layers of our platform, from database design to backend services (Java, Python, Groovy) to frontend applications (React, TypeScript)
- Lead technical design discussions, bringing data-driven analysis and expertise to inform architectural decisions
- Continuously evaluate and implement new technologies and services to maximize development efficiency and platform capabilities
- Champion quality and testing best practices by writing comprehensive test coverage and maintaining high code standards
- Mentor and support junior engineers on your team, fostering a culture of learning and technical excellence
What you’ll need:
- 6+ years of experience in software development lifecycle
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- Strong backend development experience using Java, Python, or Groovy
- Demonstrated experience building web applications with React and JavaScript
- Proficiency with modern software development practices including version control (Git), unit testing, and CI/CD pipelines
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively with product and design teams
- Proven ability to own product development end-to-end with excellent design and development standards
- Thrives in fast-paced startup environments and enjoys working on collaborative agile teams

The salary range for this position is $130,000 to $145,000 annually; as part of a total benefits package which includes health insurance, 401k and bonus. In accordance with state applicable laws, Cohere is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. Individual pay decisions are ultimately based on a number of factors, including but not limited to qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and internal alignment.
