The Role

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Senior QA Automation Engineer to play a strong leadership role, owning automated testing across our Trading platform and helping to set the QA vision for future releases. You will architect, design, build, and run comprehensive test suites, integrate them into our CI/CD toolchain, and drive quality from planning through release in a fast-paced Agile team.

You will be responsible for creating and executing test plans before product launches to ensure software runs smoothly and work in an Agile environment in a multi-disciplined team to develop and create significant coverage of automation testing of software applications within an existing framework. This position requires automation and manual testing (where features are not yet covered by automation).

How You'll Help Take Us There

Quality Assurance Leadership

  • Define and drive test strategy (functional, security, integration, regression, performance, smoke).
  • Own QA roadmap and communicate progress.
  • Mentor QA engineers and champion quality-first culture.
  • Supervise quality gates. Monitor static code analysis, vulnerability scans, and performance metrics to ensure optimal system functionality. Manage a co-located work team, in multiple time zones.

Test Planning and Execution

  • Establish and track quality KPIs, and champion process improvements to drive continuous improvement.
  • Manage test data and environments and set development standards for testability. Build and maintain comprehensive automation.
  • Integrate with CI/CD toolchain and partner with SRE team to embed tests in GitHub Actions / Jenkins for quick and reliable releases.
  • Develop test plans, create test cases, and write test automation code.
  • Plan and implement various types of testing (e.g., regression, functional, data validation, system integration, load, performance).
  • Collaborate with business partners, developers, and stakeholders to plan, create, execute, and automate test cases.
  • Review developer and QA test plans to ensure comprehensive coverage.

Defect Management and Troubleshooting

  • Log, track, and verify fixes in Jira. Provide clear, actionable feedback.
  • Isolate, reproduce, manage, and maintain defects and test case databases, and verify fixes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with different teams to drive root cause identification and resolution.

Collaboration, Communication, and Continuous Improvement

  • Lead the testing efforts of medium to large-sized projects, assign tasks to personnel, and report progress to stakeholders.
  • Work closely with development teams to design testing strategies and integrate testing into the development process.
  • Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of the test suite and explore innovative automation techniques.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce testing time and effort through automation.
  • Track key testing metrics and communicate progress towards overall testing goals to stakeholders.

What We’re Looking for

  • 7+ years in software QA, with 3+ years focused on Playwright/TypeScript automation.
  • Strong coding proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript with practical experience testing modern web applications.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and API testing frameworks (Playwright API).
  • Exposure to performance testing tools and methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of Static and security testing tools (e.g., SonarQube, Checkmark).
  • Skilled in test data management, environment setup, and debugging distributed systems.
  • Experience with Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, TestNG, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills; demonstrated ability to employ fact-based decision-making to resolve complex problems by applying logic analysis, experience, and business knowledge.
  • E-trading and financial services industry experience.
  • Strong presentation skills: written and verbal communication, including the ability to influence.
  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related subject.

For job positions in NYC, NY, and other locations where required, the estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is $135,000 USD to $170,000 USD. Actual salary may vary depending on job-related factors, which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. You may also be eligible for annual cash incentives, equity, and other benefit programs.
