POSITION SUMMARY

We’re looking for a Staff Software Engineer / Tech Lead Manager to join our Growth Engineering team, the group responsible for the systems and experiences that help millions of people discover, onboard, and engage with EarnIn. This is a high-impact, cross-functional role where you’ll blend deep technical expertise with product intuition — designing scalable systems that power experimentation, personalization, and member engagement across our product ecosystem.

As a Staff Engineer / Tech Lead Manager on Growth, you’ll operate across the stack, with a strong foundation in backend systems and a readiness to influence web and mobile experiences as needed. You’ll work closely with product, marketing, data, and analytics teams to identify growth opportunities, architect solutions, and execute with velocity. You’ll also play a key role in elevating engineering quality and strategy across the broader organization. We’re looking for someone with prior leadership experience who’s excited to lead a small team of 2-3 engineers while remaining intensely hands-on, spending the majority of their time building, designing, and problem-solving.This is a hybrid position in Mountain View (Headquarters) and will require in-office work 2 days a week. The base salary range for this full-time position is $252,000-$308,000, plus equity and benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Own the technical vision for Growth systems spanning onboarding, activation, retention, and re-engagement.
  • Design and build scalable, reliable backend services and data pipelines that enable fast iteration, experimentation, and personalized user experiences.
  • Collaborate with data, product, and marketing partners to integrate growth levers into the product - connecting systems, insights, and member journeys.
  • Drive experimentation infrastructure and tooling, ensuring engineers can launch, measure, and iterate on experiments with minimal friction.
  • Mentor and develop engineers through regular feedback, design reviews, and career growth conversations. Recruit and onboard top engineering talent, shaping a team that’s collaborative, curious, and obsessed with impact
  • Partner with platform and mobile teams to deliver cohesive, cross-platform growth experiences that scale.
  • Champion engineering quality, observability, and performance, ensuring the Growth stack evolves with stability and velocity.
  • Influence product direction through a strong technical and analytical lens — helping balance speed, reliability, and impact.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience, with a track record of technical leadership and delivering high-impact systems at scale.
  • Deep backend expertise, with proficiency in at least one modern language (e.g., Kotlin, Java, Go, C#).
  • Experience architecting distributed systems and APIs using REST/gRPC, event-driven workflows, and asynchronous processing.
  • Strong understanding of experimentation and data systems, from instrumentation to metrics pipelines.
  • Fluency in system design trade-offs (consistency, scalability, reliability, and developer velocity).
  • Familiarity with relational and document databases, and comfort working with both operational and analytical data flows.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with experience working across product, analytics, and marketing functions.
  • Ability to mentor and influence engineers across teams, setting technical standards and driving best practices.
  • Curiosity and adaptability to learn new domains — from web to mobile to AI-driven personalization.
  • Strong Preference:
    • Experience with or interest in leveraging AI/LLMs to accelerate development and decision-making.
    • Strong preference for a leader who can guide a small team (2 - 3 engineers) while remaining highly hands-on in design and development.
