As a Software Engineer on the Payments Platform team within the Platform group, you'll build the backend services that power fiat on- and off-ramps for millions of Coinbase customers. This team owns the payment rails, routing, and funds-flow infrastructure that connects Coinbase products to global payment methods and financial partners. You'll deliver features and services where every transaction must be correct, secure, and reliable, working across the stack to help scale one of the most critical systems in crypto.
What You'll Do:
- Build and ship backend payment services in Go that process high-volume fiat transactions across multiple payment rails, ensuring correctness and reliability at every step
- Deliver well-scoped projects end-to-end, from technical design through production deployment, contributing to services that handle real money movement for consumer and institutional customers
- Contribute to the design and evolution of Payments Platform's distributed systems, participating in architecture discussions and code reviews that improve system reliability and scalability
- Partner with product managers, senior engineers, and cross-functional teams to translate product requirements into technical implementations on a quarterly roadmap cadence
Required Skills and Experience:
- 2+ years building and operating backend services in production, with proficiency in Go, Python, Java, or similar backend languages
- Experience with relational databases (Postgres or similar), service-oriented architectures, and cloud-native development patterns
- Demonstrated ability to deliver projects end-to-end with production-quality, well-tested code in systems where correctness and reliability matter
- Familiarity with financial systems, payment processing, or high-reliability transactional infrastructure
- Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality
