CMT is seeking a collaborative, customer-committed, and creative Principal Software Engineer I, Cloud to help us change the world. In this role, you will design and implement scalable architectures to reliably collect and manage telematics data from diverse 3rd-party sources including delivery platforms, automotive OEMs, and telematics service providers transforming these complex datasets into unified, actionable insights that power global safety and risk-assessment programs.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with development teams, product managers, and stakeholders to conceptualize and innovate software solutions
- Architect and oversee client-side and server-side systems, setting the technical direction for complex projects
- Act as a mentor and technical leader, providing guidance and knowledge transfer to junior and mid-level engineers.
- Spearhead the creation of visually appealing front-end applications while pushing the boundaries of user experience design
- Manage and optimize high-performance databases and applications, ensuring seamless data flow and system stability
- Develop robust APIs that seamlessly integrate with various components of the software ecosystem
- Implement rigorous testing procedures to guarantee software responsiveness, scalability, and efficiency
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and execute software enhancements, elevating system performance.
- Establish and maintain advanced security protocols and data protection measures to safeguard sensitive information
- Lead the development of innovative features and applications with a relentless focus on mobile-responsive design
- Complete any additional tasks as they arise
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience and/or certification in Computer Science or a related field
- 7+ years of relevant working experience in web application development, showcasing an exceptional command of programming concepts
- Mastery of contemporary HTML/CSS, jQuery, and an in-depth understanding of their application in modern web development
- Proficiency in Python and JavaScript/TypeScript, with a demonstrated ability to architect and deliver solutions across the software stack
- Expertise in developing, optimizing, and maintaining web applications, APIs, and databases to deliver top-notch performance and functionality
- Comprehensive knowledge of relational database systems and their seamless integration into complex software projects
- A deep understanding of the intricate workings of web applications, coupled with the ability to optimize performance
Nice to Haves:
- Strong knowledge in web security and session management
- Experience with the AWS ecosystem
- Ability to work independently when needed
- Ability to learn quickly
- Familiarity with modern JS frameworks such as React or Angular
- Hands-on experience with network diagnostics, network analytics tools

Base Salary Range
- The base salary range for this position is: $168,000 to $210,000. This range is specifically for Cambridge, MA
