Job Description:
We are seeking a Red Hat Network Engineer to join our team in a client-facing capacity. This position focuses on day-to-day support, troubleshooting, and operational tasks that allow senior engineers and architects to remain focused on higher-level projects. The role requires experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux, VMware products, and network automation using tools such as Ansible and Bash. Candidates should have exposure to ITSM/ITIL practices and the software development lifecycle, along with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and internal teams.
The Work:
- Support day-to-day network and system operations, resolving issues and completing routine tasks to ensure stable operations.
- Administer Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments, including patching, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Manage and maintain VMware systems including ESXi, vSphere, vCenter, and VDI environments.
- Use automation tools such as Ansible and scripting (Bash, Python optional) to streamline tasks and reduce manual effort.
- Participate in change management, incident management, and other ITSM/ITIL processes.
- Assist with deployments and integration efforts in support of the software development lifecycle.
- Work directly with clients to understand issues, provide updates, and deliver reliable technical support.
- Collaborate with internal engineering, systems, and cybersecurity teams to ensure efficient handoffs and coordinated solutions.
- Document system changes, troubleshooting steps, and standard operating procedures to support repeatability and knowledge sharing.
Here's what you need:
- CompTIA Network+ or Security+ certification.
- 2+ years of professional experience in network engineering or systems administration.
- Hands-on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and VMware environments.
- Familiarity with SDLC workflows and how infrastructure supports development and testing environments.
- Proficiency with network protocols including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP.
- Experience with VPNs, firewalls, and other standard network security tools.
Bonus points if you have:
- CCNA certification.
- Skills in automation and scripting using Ansible and Bash.
- General understanding of ITSM/ITIL processes and their application in daily operations.
- Military experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
