About Us
Applecart is the leading technology company creating a new category of “Decision Maker Marketing”. The most important decisions are made by the hardest people to reach and influence. Historically, C-suite leaders have lacked the tools to reach the stakeholders that matter most to their business. The C-suites of hundreds of Fortune 500 companies, major agencies, trade associations, nonprofits, and governments use Applecart to put their best content in front of business-critical decision makers and those they trust — from policymakers and investors to CEOs, key employees, members of the media and more. Decision makers are informed by what they read, learn from advisors, hear from colleagues, and discuss with family and friends. To break through to them, you must reach them through the only channel that really moves them: those they know and trust. Applecart’s platform uses publicly available or fully permissioned data to map billions of social relationships between nearly every American adult and enable clients to deliver content directly to decision makers and those that matter most to them.
We are hiring a Staff Front End Engineer in our New York office.
About the Role
As a Staff Front End Engineer at Applecart, you’ll partner closely with cross-functional teams to shape our technical strategy, maintain a sustainable codebase, and ensure we deliver a performant, polished user experience.
Key responsibilities include leading cross-team frontend development and infrastructure efforts, defining technical strategy and standards, mentoring engineers, collaborating closely with design and product teams, and ensuring robust monitoring and performance of web applications.
What You’ll Do
- Contribute to the design, development, and delivery of performant, polished user experiences while setting best practices and repeatable processes for fast, safe development.
- Partner with engineering, product, and design leadership to define and execute technical strategy, balancing business priorities, UX, and sustainable architecture.
- Drive short- and long-term roadmaps, contribute to organizational vision, and align frontend efforts with company goals.
- Ship large features with minimal guidance; collaborate across teams on major initiatives and shared codebases.
- Define, maintain, and advocate for internal standards on style, maintainability, and best practices through code review.
- Identify and resolve technical debt to improve efficiency, quality, security, and performance.
- Mentor engineers at all levels, supporting their technical growth and unblocking their work.
- Lead architectural decisions and critical frontend projects to ensure development excellence.
- Design and maintain web infrastructure (servers, load balancers, caching) and shape future systems by introducing maintainable and scalable architecture patterns.
- Collaborate with design to ensure consistent, high-quality user experiences.
- Establish observability standards, including logging libraries, error monitoring integration, and alerting.
Experiences and Capabilities You Bring
- 10+ years of software development experience in fast-paced tech environments.
- 5+ years of experience in infrastructure and architecture, including frontend infrastructure design, frontend hosting and CDN strategies, deployment pipelines, build systems, and monitoring tools.
- Deep expertise in frontend technologies, patterns, and best practices, with extensive professional experience in React or another modern JavaScript framework (Vue, Angular, Ember, etc.).
- Proficient in at least one major backend language (e.g., Python, Java, Kotlin) with full-stack exposure, including API design, database work, and application performance monitoring.
- Strong product and design sense; skilled at collaborating with cross-functional partners to deliver high-quality, end-to-end experiences.
- Proven technical leadership, including defining roadmaps for complex, multi-team projects and mentoring engineers to support their growth.
- Self-directed, able to operate autonomously across teams to deliver large-scale impact.
This is a hybrid role. Work from home on Monday and Friday and in Applecart’s New York City office Tuesday through Thursday.
