About the Job:

As a Developer Educator, you’ll serve developers by inspiring and equipping them to build with LaunchDarkly with technical tutorials, example applications, and engaging with developers in your programming community both online and offline. This role will spend a significant amount of time working with our Documentation team to bring a developer-first perspective to our expansive technical docs. Your experience building example applications with LaunchDarkly will feed directly into friction logs and directly improving our documentation pages so we make it as easy as possible for developers to go from zero knowledge of our products to a successful implementation. You will own the vision for how to improve our docs from a developer perspective and ensure we get better every week in serving developers with our docs content.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and drive the vision from a developer’s perspective in how our documentation should best serve developers. We have a great docs team comprised primarily of technical writers who ensure we have documentation coverage across our products, and you’ll work closely with them to create the best developer-focused docs anyone has ever read. We aim to get developers to “aha!” moment with LaunchDarkly as quickly as possible, and then equip them to adopt increasingly advanced features of our platform.
  • Write code that enables developers to be successful with LaunchDarkly. This code may be part of our documentation, technical tutorials on the blog, an open source project, or another developer service, but regardless of where it ends up, you’re figuring out how to inspire and equip developers with code that makes it as easy as possible for them to get to success.
  • Work closely with our Product teams to ensure that our products are developer-centric and that we get the details right for them.
  • Mentor others on the Developer Relations and Developer Experience teams. We have a lot of raw talent on the team that can develop into great senior leaders of their own with the right guidance, both in technical areas and more broadly in doing right by our colleagues and customers.
  • Create projects & tutorials with our products and interact with developers in our community. You will both create tutorials yourself and work with others to expand the number of high quality tutorials on the blog.

Qualifications:

  • Deep expertise in at least one programming language such as JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, C#, or PHP
  • Firsthand knowledge of modern software development, DevOps, and the software development space.
  • Self-starter attitude, empathetic, and motivated to serve developers and make the colleagues around you better

Pay:

Target pay ranges based on Geographic Zones* for Level 5:

  • Zone 1: San Francisco/Bay Area or New York City Metropolitan Area (if not Bay area specific role): $195,000 - $250,000**

About LaunchDarkly:

Modern software delivery was supposed to be the foundation for a thriving digital business but reality has proven otherwise. Slow, inefficient development cycles, costly outages, and fragmented customer experiences are preventing developers from building their best software. The LaunchDarkly platform helps developers innovate on new features faster while protecting them with a safety valve to instantly rewind when things go wrong. Developers can target product experiences to any customer segment and maximize the business impact of every feature. And by gradually rolling out new application components, they escape nightmare "big-bang" technology migrations.

The LaunchDarkly platform was built to guide engineers to the next frontier of DevOps by:

  • Improving the velocity and stability of software releases, without the fear of end customer outages
  • Delivering targeted experiences by easily personalizing features to customer cohorts
  • Maximizing the business impact of every feature through the ability to experiment and optimize
  • Coordinating the release and optimization of software to provide consistent experiences across mobile platforms and device types
  • Improving the effectiveness and productivity of engineering teams, by providing insights into engineering cadence and stability

At LaunchDarkly, we believe in the power of teams. We're building a team that is humble, open, collaborative, respectful and kind. We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company.
