About The Role:
As a key engineer on our team, you'll own the customer-facing portions of our APIs and SDKs, prototyping the first versions of new backend features, and collaborating with the backend engineering team. You'll create innovative IoT solutions and intuitive interfaces that transform how people interact with buildings. Your work will delight developer-customers and speed up collaborative feature development.
In this role you will:
- Lead the development of backend prototypes as part of a fullstack team, writing clean, efficient, and scalable code in: Go, React, and Python.
- Own the SDKs
- Be the primary point of contact between the frontend team in SF and the remote backend team.
- Talk to customers, understand pain points and opportunities, and translate them into innovative software solutions that solve real problems.
- Work cross-functionally within a tight-knit team, ensuring alignment with product vision and delivering features that enhance the overall user experience.
- Ensure code quality through testing and automation, manage Git workflows, and design CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions while optimizing AWS cloud infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will have:
- 5+ years of proven fullstack development experience with a strong command of:
- React
- Python
- ideally Go, particularly in building web applications and APIs demonstrated professionally
- Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure, especially within the AWS ecosystem (e.g., EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS), with experience in deploying and scaling applications in a cloud environment.
- Proficiency in modern frontend development with React and TypeScript, demonstrating a strong ability to build intuitive, responsive interfaces while maintaining a keen focus on user experience.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills, comfortable taking on unfamiliar challenges and adapting quickly to new technologies or problems.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, able to work cross-functionally with business stakeholders, product teams, and other developers to translate business needs into software solutions.
- A self-starter and generalist mindset, capable of wearing multiple hats in a smaller company environment, and willing to tackle tasks outside your primary skill set when necessary.
Job Compensation Range:
Salary Range: $150,000 - $225,000
Preferred Primary Location: Commuting distance to San Francisco
This is a hybrid role that requires a minimum in office 4 days a week in office in SF: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday
