We are seeking a Staff Engineer, Enterprise Integration to lead the architecture, development, and scaling of enterprise integration solutions that power automation, data flow, and AI enabled workflows across the organization. This role owns the integration layer that connects business-critical platforms (ERP, HRIS, TMS, Fleet/Driver Operations, Supply Chain, Finance) and enterprise productivity and collaboration tools (Slack, Google Workspace, Jira), enabling seamless automation, data flow, and cross-system orchestration.

The ideal candidate brings deep enterprise integration expertise across event-driven architectures, API design, iPaaS platforms, and integration patterns at scale, and understands how to design integrations that are reliable, observable, secure, extensible, and designed for diverse consumption models. You will define the integration architecture blueprint, partner with iPaaS vendors and engineering teams, and work closely with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to deliver production-grade solutions that improve productivity and operational scalability.

In this role you will

  • Architect, build, and scale enterprise integration solutions connecting systems of record (ERP, HRIS, TMS, Fleet/Driver Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, CRM) and enterprise productivity and collaboration platforms (Slack, Google Workspace, Jira) using iPaaS platforms (Workato preferred; MuleSoft experience also valued) and API and service-driven patterns. Hands-on work spans data mapping, schema transformation, connector development, error handling across system boundaries, and authoring custom software where platform capabilities don’t suffice.
  • Define and own the enterprise integration architecture blueprint: layered integration design with clear system abstraction, process orchestration, and consumer-facing API contracts. Establish recipe and connector standards, testing strategies, governance frameworks, and citizen developer guardrails with clear engineering boundaries to achieve organizational scale, reduce tech debt, and maintain sustainable integration delivery velocity.
  • Design system-to-system integrations with observability, error management, reliability, security, cost efficiency, and idempotency as first-class concerns. Apply cost-conscious design choices to scale without incurring unnecessary platform and infrastructure spend.
  • Develop and maintain custom Workato connectors, recipes, and testing suites. Own CI/CD pipelines for integration deployments, ensuring consistent quality and release discipline across the integration platform. Leverage GenAI tools to accelerate integration development, testing, and documentation.
  • Partner with IT, driver engineering and services, cloud/platform engineering, security, and data platform teams to ensure integration architecture aligns with enterprise-wide technical standards, infrastructure capabilities, and security requirements.
  • Partner with iPaaS vendors and internal platform teams to manage the integration technology stack, drive roadmap alignment, and ensure the organization extracts maximum value from its tooling investments.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders across Finance, HR, Legal, Fleet Operations, Supply Chain, and Commercial Operations to identify automation opportunities, prioritize the integration backlog, and translate requirements into integration-driven solutions. Manage competing demands across domain teams and build a clear integration roadmap aligned to business priorities.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership as a staff-level engineer: define architectural vision, lead architecture reviews, create integration playbooks and architectural decision records, set engineering standards, and drive adoption across teams.
  • Enable AI workflows to leverage enterprise integrations through callable recipes, versioned API contracts, and discovery protocols such as MCP, whether hosted on the iPaaS platform or the AWS ecosystem. Support human-in-the-loop and agent-to-agent orchestration patterns.
  • Evaluate emerging integration, workflow automation, and AI-enablement technologies, run proof-of-concepts, and make build-vs-buy recommendations with clear cost modeling to engineering and business leadership.

Required qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in enterprise integration, solutions architecture, or integration-focused software engineering, with a track record of establishing and scaling enterprise integration practices for complex, large-scale environments.
  • Deep hands-on experience with enterprise integration platforms (Workato, MuleSoft, Boomi, or equivalent) including custom connector development, recipe design, microservices, testing, and CI/CD for integration deployments.
  • Production-grade integration experience across enterprise systems and collaboration platforms, with strong command of enterprise integration patterns (EIP) such as content-based routing, message translation, splitter/aggregator, and idempotent consumer.
  • Deep understanding of event-driven architectures, API design (REST, webhooks), and cloud-native integration patterns. Experience with AWS serverless and server-based services is a strong plus.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise integration security: API authentication patterns, secure credential and secrets management, data privacy and PII handling, and least-privilege access controls for integrations and their consumers.
  • Cost-conscious integration mindset: experience designing integrations with financial discipline, understanding the cost implications of pattern choices across iPaaS and cloud platforms.
  • Proficiency in one or more of: Python, Java, TypeScript, Ruby, or Go. Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and integration deployments.
  • Familiarity with agentic AI consumption models, including agentic frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LangGraph) and protocols such as MCP. Willingness to stay current as the space evolves.
  • Experience working with iPaaS vendors, platform, cloud, and security teams to define integration architecture blueprints, govern integration delivery across domain teams, and establish citizen developer models with clear guardrails for self-service adoption.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage non-engineering stakeholders (Finance, HR, Supply Chain, Fleet Ops), translate business requirements into technical architecture, and prioritize competing demands. Demonstrated staff-level technical leadership: setting architectural vision, leading design reviews, documenting architectural decisions, and driving technology adoption.

Desirable qualifications

  • Advanced experience with Workato or MuleSoft, including platform administration, scaling workflow automation across an enterprise, and real-time messaging and streaming patterns for integration workloads.
  • Experience integrating across complex enterprise domains (Finance, Supply Chain, HR, Fleet Operations) at scale, with a focus on event-driven architecture, microservices, performance, reliability, and operational excellence. Experience with AWS platform services and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) for integration infrastructure is a plus.
  • Experience defining and operating enterprise integration governance: recipe catalogs, versioning strategies, domain ownership models, integration roadmap planning, and observability standards at scale.
  • Awareness of evolving consumption models for enterprise integrations, including AI-enabled workflows, and a commitment to staying current with emerging integration and automation technologies.
