As a Staff Software Engineer on Ridgeline’s Report Builder team, you’ll play a key role in designing and delivering a core feature of our platform—an intelligent, user-friendly reporting tool that enables customers to visualize and interact with critical investment data across the enterprise. You’ll be hands-on in building scalable full stack solutions, while also guiding strategic decisions and mentoring fellow engineers. You’ll collaborate closely with teammates across product, design, and engineering to shape the future of reporting for investment management. We use cutting-edge technologies—including AI tools like GitHub Copilot and ChatGPT—to streamline development and amplify engineering impact.

What will you do?

  • Contribute technical design opinions and fuel decision-making to fast paced, growing team
  • Partner closely with design, strategy, and engineering teammates and work in a collaborative environment deeply rooted in learning, teaching, and transparency
  • Engage in the entire development process, from requirements and design reviews through implementation and testing
  • Build scalable, testable TypeScript and React components, while championing performance, accessibility, and design-system consistency
  • Create automation that leads to scalable, high-quality applications customers will depend on to run their businesses
  • Coach, mentor, and inspire fellow engineers to deliver high performing, secure enterprise applications
  • Think creatively, tackle complex problems, seek innovative solutions, and communicate clearly along the way
  • Contribute to a collaborative environment rooted in learning, teaching, and transparency

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering, including a strong track record of architecting and designing new products and systems
  • 6+ years of experience building web frontends with technologies such as React, JavaScript, TypeScript, and Jest
  • Backend experience using Kotlin, RESTful/GraphQL APIs
  • A degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or a related discipline
  • Willingness to learn about new technologies and develop expertise in a business domain/problem space
  • Understand the value of automated testing at all levels
  • Ability to focus on short-term deliverables while maintaining a big-picture long term perspective
  • An aptitude for complex problem-solving
  • Ability to communicate with colleagues at all levels
  • Serious interest in having fun at work
  • Ability to communicate effectively

Bonus:

  • Familiarity with AWS services, Docker
  • Comfortable working in Agile development environments
  • Background in Wealth Management, FinTech, or other domain-specific, high-trust software
  • Proven ability to contribute to mission-critical or high-availability platforms
  • Track record of introducing data-driven improvements through instrumentation, automation, or process optimization

Compensation and Benefits

The typical starting salary range for new hires in this role is listed below. In select locations (including, the San Francisco Bay Area, CA, and the New York City Metro Area), an alternate range may apply as specified below.

The typical starting salary range for this role is: $174,500-$205,000.

The typical starting salary range for this role in the select locations listed above is: $185,000-$220,000.

Final compensation amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amount listed above.
