Who we are

Coupang is scaling the largest Offsite Ads program in Korea and expanding its global footprint. We empower advertisers and merchants to discover target consumers worldwide by leveraging Coupang's massive e-commerce ecosystem and premium traffic assets, such as Coupang Play. The Offsite Ads Engineering team is at the heart of this mission, building high-performance machine learning systems and models for advanced targeting, retrieval, ranking, and bidding at scale.

What you will do

In this internship, you will gain hands-on experience building large-scale machine learning models for Ads retrieval and ranking. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to design and optimize advanced bidding algorithms for Real-Time Bidding (RTB) ecosystems." What You Will do

• Develop and improve machine learning models for Ads ranking and recommendation systems
• Design and build features for ranking algorithms using large-scale datasets
• Process and analyze billions of user interaction records and large-scale log data
• Contribute to scalable data pipelines and ML infrastructure (offline and real-time systems)
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver production-ready solutions
• Debug search queries and analyze customer behavior to improve product outcomes

Basic Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s in computer science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field
• Experience with at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Java, or C++)
• Foundation in data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles
• Familiarity with machine learning concepts
• Ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
• Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, XGBoost)
• Familiarity with big data tools (e.g., Spark, Hive, Hadoop)
• Experience with SQL and relational databases
• Exposure to distributed systems or cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Prior internship or research experience in ML, data engineering, or systems
• Strong problem-solving skills and demonstrated ownership
• Eligibility & Program Details
• Must be actively enrolled in an accredited university during the internship
• Preferred academic level: Sophomore, Junior, Senior
• Internship Term: Summer 2026 (10-week program)

Pay & Benefits

• Internships are full-time (40 hours per week)
• Hourly Pay Range: $40 – $45 per hour; we do not anticipate overtime work, but if there is, any overtime hours would be paid in accordance with applicable law
• Compensation is based on market location, skills, and experience
• Mentorship, performance feedback, and final evaluation
